Attribution: Asia Minor (Lydia). Sardes. Achaemenid Persian administration at Sardes (posthumous Croeseid coinage). c. 550–520 BC (Persian period). AR. siglos.
Obverse: Confronted foreparts of a lion (on the left, head right) and a bull (on the right, head left), each with foreleg extended, facing one another. Anepigraphic.
Reverse: Two incuse (sunken) square punches of unequal size, side by side.
Weight: 5.22 g (tag) (Weight taken from the dealer tag; not independently re-weighed. Full siglos/half-stater standard is c. 5.35 g, so this specimen is slightly light, consistent with wear.) Reference: Berk 22
