Carrhae, Caracalla Eagle Tetradrachm

Related — This coin as CNG e-Auction 614, lot 594, 29 July 2026 - the auction photograph. Evenly toned billon with a strong radiate portrait; on the reverse the eagle stands facing with wings displayed and the wreath clear in its beak, the star legible in the upper left field, and the crescent - the badge of the moon god of Harran, and the whole point of the coin - visible between the legs. The two pellets in the exergue are bracketed in the cataloguing, so they are off the flan or unclear.

The Coin
